Why are we not talking? Probably:1) Members in networking companies reluctant to divulge their progress?2) Noobes thinking they'll sound like idiots?3) Don't know what questions to ask? Ideas? FredContinue

Hi Michael
There is plenty of stuff happening with IPv6 at the moment.Off the top of my head I know that Neology, TENET, AfriNIC and a few others are running production services on IPv6 in South Africa and a number of others are busy with testing.
Anyone in South Africa have any servers connected directly to IPv6 internet?
We (Neology) are fully IPv6 ready and are already providing IPv6 to our customers. We only sell to ISPs and we are unfortunately dependent on them to bring our IPv6 services to end users.
JAWUG's application for IPv6 addresses has been approved and they are just waiting for some paperwork to be processed to finalise the allocation.
Were wanting to start playing with IPV6 on the PTA Wug in the next couple months.
We have set some ip's up and done some basic tests.
Now more just for a proper roll out for decent testing.
So if your in the greater Pretoria area thats one way to start testing. I think JAWug was also looking at this as some point
I contacted Mweb, IS, SAIX, Vodacom, MTN and CellC a while back in preperation for a talk I'm ding tin 2 weeks time. Only IS replied with the following:-
"We don't currently offer native IPv6 services. We are working internally and closely with vendors to ensure we are ready for IPv6 when a business demand for it develops.
However we can provide a tunnel, which will provide Native IPv6 access to customers for now (this allows customers to land the v6 access in there LAB, without impacting there live network.) We will also provide IP addresses. This is not an official offering but could be done if required."
Not the best response, but better than the deadly silence I got from the others.
From what I understand, some of the ADSL infrastructure in SA is not capable of IPv6, though ISPs could still provide v6 via 6RD, tunnels or local 6to4 gateways. I have heard rumors that Telkom are getting ready for v6 but no word on when it will be available to the consumer. So far the only folks that seem to be ready is Tenet who run the tertiary education networks.
Hi guys,
Anyone know whether any ISP's in SA have IPv6 services yet? I have contacted Axxess an asked them whether they or IS have any. I am awaiting a reply...
Regards
